BEEN There DONE That Tutorial – Seams of Opal Part 1

Nice one Allison! I have several WIPs that I am actively working on, but I still want to make my little 4 blocks of this quilt. I am eagerly awaiting the rest because as mentioned (somewhere) I am really looking forward to learning these techniques of paper piecing & quilt as you go. Good job getting us set up & ready. It looks like even doing 4 blocks still means there is a lot of fabrics used here. And if I don’t get the quilt as you go experience with 4 blocks, I could always make 8 & make a table runner.
I, too, will be making 4 or 8 blocks to learn the technique. I’m pondering the painter’s tape/postcard/ruler thing……Hmmm.
I have my pattern drafted, but now I don’t like my ugly fabric that I have prepared. We’ll see!

I am so glad that you have chosen to do paper piecing for all to see and learn. I had to pull my copy of Love of Quilting off of the shlef to take a look at the quilt. I did like the quilt when I the magazine arrived but since I have never done paper piecing I just thought that someday I would have to learn to do it and make the quilt. Someday has arrived! Thanks. I have just the fabric in mind for this quilt. My son and daughter-in-law picked up a fabric bundle for me while they were on vacation in Hawaii recently and it is tropical themed, just right for this quilt.
